Verizon's Fios may be coming to Westmoreland

At the Westmoreland Condo meeting, Oct. 29, 2007, it was reported that Verizon has offered the condo an agreement for access to install Fios. The opportunity to choose Fios would be a great benefit to residents. The Condo Board decided to have a lawyer review the agreement.

I suggested at the meeting the proposed contract be reviewed to ensure that Westmoreland Terrace does not grant exclusive fiber optic access rights to Verizon. Some condo associations have signed exclusive contracts and later regretted doing so. One result has been major regulatory battles to nullify contract exclusivity. I hope that the Condo association carefully examines whether the contract proposes any exclusivity. Dealing with this contract issue in advance is much easier than dealing with it after agreeing to a contract.

The 7-11 at 1210 Ft. Myer is closing on Oct. 31. It will be closed for a week or two, and then the store will re-open under a different name and different management.

Update: probably won't be re-opened until early next year.

The Fall of the House of Usher

Synetic Theater's The Fall of the House of Usher is at the Rosslyn Spectrum through October 31. It's Gothic Horror at its most extreme. Whatever family problems you have, you'll come away from this show thinking that your family is not that ill after all. Highly recommended.
