Arlington's annual tribune to Martin Luther King is this Sunday, Jan. 16, from 7-9pm in the Thomas Jefferson Community Center Auditorium. Walter E. Fauntroy, a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, activist, friend to Dr. King, and retired pastor of fifty years at New Bethel Baptist Church in Washington, DC, will keynote the tribute. Rev. Fauntroy helped to coordinate the 1963 March on Washington and the 1965 Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights Marches. The tribute will also include performances by the award-winning Washington-Lee Jazz Big Band and poetry readings by winners of the 2011 Arlington Public Schools Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Visual Arts Contest.
