don't attempt to poison squirrels

Three dead squirrels have recently been found around Rosslyn's historically important Westmoreland Terrace Condominiums.  Poisoning is a possible cause of these unusual deaths.

Poisoning squirrels and other animals is mean.  It's also against the law.  Article IV, Sec. 2-21 of Arlington County Code states:
Trapping and/or Poisoning of Animals Prohibited
It shall be unlawful for any person to set or bait any trap or other contrivance for the catching of game or tame animals, or to knowingly permit any such trap to be set or baited on his premises or property or to set out any poisoned bait with the intent of poisoning any game or tame animal except by the consent of the animal warden. Only box traps may be used for the purposes of trapping a game or domestic animal.
Squirrels face deadly attacks from hawks.  Hawks face deadly attacks from their shadows in windowpanes.  Don't add to the violence that already exists in the world.

Moreover, setting out poison for a squirrel could cause poisoning of a dog, or even a young child.  Don't do it.

I've seen several poisoned squirrels in the last few weeks over by the Sheffield Court Apartments, near Clarendon, as well. Creepy. Wondering what that was all about.
